I've been fascinated with optics since my dad bought our first telescope when I was nine years old. I read Astronomy magazine as a kid, mainly to check out the newest images from the universe. Dad and I played with the telescope late at night, looking at the moon through different filters and threatening to shoot out street lights. I used the family camera, a Minolta XG-M older than I, but film processing was a bit prohibitive, so I only really photographed air shows.

In 2002, I finally bought a digital camera, a Canon Powershot G2, before traveling to New Orleans with my best friend. Ever since, I've been consumed by photography. Photography is my creative outlet, but I enjoy the science just as much as the art. I've since upgraded cameras; I now photograph with a Canon EOS 300D Canon EOS 5D, which I adore. I also use a Canon Powershot S500 for impromptu photos, and I still break out the old Minolta XG-M when I feel like shooting with film. I also use a Zero Image Pinhole camera and a Holga for film experiments.

I just left one incredible photography area - Washington, DC - for another photography wonder. As a new resident of Colorado, the natural beauty astounds me. Life is calmer here, and I hope to explore new areas that I have never seen before. My camera is never far from me when I travel. I want to see it all.
